Double click on excel file does not open file

SYMPTOM:
When you double-click on a shortcut to an XLS file, excel pops up but the file does not open. If you use File and then Open, then it will.

RESOLUTION:

• Open Excel
• Click Tools
• Click Options
• Click General tab
• Uncheck “Ignore Other Applications
